When Kindness Becomes Self-Deception

This article is a continuation of our series on the Muslim Brothers—their doctrine of political patience, their genius for institutional mimicry, and their habit of advancing not by open conquest but by moral insinuation. If earlier instalments established the Brothers as a method rather than a mere movement, this one narrows the lens to Sweden and asks a blunt question that polite society prefers to avoid: what happens when a liberal state cannot distinguish between the protection of citizens and the promotion of an ideology that is, at bottom, hostile to liberalism itself?

Sweden is not short of decency. It is drowning in it. And therein lies the danger. Suicidal empathy is not compassion; it is compassion with its eyes gouged out. It is the reflex that treats every identity-claim as sacred, every grievance as self-authenticating, and every demand for “sensitivity” as a moral trump card against scrutiny. It is the habit—now near-automatic—of confusing criticism of Islamism with hatred of Muslims, thereby granting the most disciplined and illiberal actors a shield made from the very virtues of the society they intend to reshape. The result is a public square where questions are taboo, consequences are impolite, and the burden of proof is perversely placed on those who dare to notice patterns.

This instalment is therefore not an exercise in paranoia, nor a contribution to the tawdry trade in prejudice. It is an attempt to describe—plainly, urgently, and without euphemism—how enclaves are cultivated, how influence is laundered through “civil society,” how gatekeepers appoint themselves spokesmen, and how dissent is managed through accusations designed to end arguments rather than answer them. In the previous articles I traced the broader playbooks. Here I examine its Swedish application: the slow construction of parallel authority under the protective canopy of the welfare state, the strategic use of respectable fronts, and the exploitation of a society’s reluctance to offend—until offence becomes a weapon and silence becomes policy.

A democracy can survive many things: recession, scandal, even incompetence. What it cannot survive is the institutionalisation of self-deception. And self-deception is exactly what suicidal empathy produces—an ethics so eager to be kind that it forgets to be truthful.

A Framework

This study presents a careful audit of the Islamic Association in Sweden (IFiS) and its associated network of organisations. The primary objective is to map empirical evidence of the network’s activities against the “Analytical Framework” (The Bezmenov Diagnostic) for ideological subversion. The analysis is conducted with strict adherence to established intelligence protocols, grounding every assessment exclusively in two sources: the theoretical framework of subversion as defined in this directive and the empirical evidence provided in Sameh Egyptson’s thesis. No external information or inference has been incorporated into this assessment.

Demoralisation (The Institutional Capture)

The initial phase of ideological subversion, Demoralisation, is a protracted process designed to erode a country’s foundational values and social cohesion. The primary vector for achieving this objective is institutional capture, whereby subversive networks infiltrate and repurpose a society’s core institutions—particularly in education and governance—to serve their ideological aims. This effort analyses the systematic capture of key Swedish social structures by the Muslim Brothers’ (MB) network.

The Muslim Brothers’ network in Sweden, spearheaded by IFiS, has implemented a strategy of ideological enclavisation in direct opposition to pragmatic integration. This approach is a direct application of the “European strategy” attributed to MB ideologue Yusuf al-Qaradawi, which is built upon four operational pillars: da‘wah (proselytising), enclavism (creating parallel societies), lobbyism (political influence), and entryism (infiltrating existing institutions). The operational goal is not merely to supplant the Swedish state’s services, but to replace its entire normative framework with a “comprehensive blue-print for the society ruled by sharia.”

The primary instruments for this institutional capture form a self-reinforcing “cradle-to-grave” ecosystem designed to insulate the target population and ensure ideological continuity. This is not a random collection of associations but a structured pipeline:

  • Youth organisations like Sveriges unga muslimer (SUM) capture the allegiance of young Swedish Muslims, serving as the primary recruitment and indoctrination vector.
  • The umbrella organisation for schools, Sveriges islamiska skolor (SIS), provides a parallel educational system where youth are educated in a closed loop, shielded from mainstream Swedish values.
  • The educational association Studieförbundet Ibn Rushd functions as the ideological finishing school, leveraging state funds to disseminate the MB’s political interpretation of Islam to the captured demographic.

This integrated system manufactures a parallel social infrastructure that fosters complete dependency on MB-affiliated institutions. With a parallel social structure established to insulate its target population, the network could then proceed to the Destabilisation phase: weaponising public discourse to protect this enclave and portray the Swedish state as an external threat.

Destabilisation (Radicalisation of Discourse)

Following institutional capture, the Destabilisation phase escalates social tensions and polarises society to the point where rational debate becomes impossible. The primary tactic is the radicalisation of public discourse, which involves reframing legitimate criticism as hostility and positioning the state itself as an antagonist to a specific identity group.

The strategic worldview driving this effort is the core ideological belief in “the fall of Christian western civilisation and Islam’s victory.” This civilisational conflict narrative is operationalised through the principle of al-wala’ wa-l-bara’ (The principle of loyalty or antagonism). This doctrine mandates absolute loyalty to the faithful (al-wala’) and antagonism toward “the others” (al-bara’), creating a permanent “we versus them” social division essential for destabilising a pluralistic society.

The tactical implementation of this strategy is the weaponisation of accusations of “Islamophobia” and “racism.” This “identity politics strategy” is designed to generate political and social polarisation by framing any scrutiny of the network’s political project as an attack on all Muslims. By conflating its subversive agenda with the religious identity of an entire demographic, the network shields itself from accountability, shuts down public debate, and portrays the Swedish state and society as inherently hostile. This narrative erodes trust in state institutions and cultivates a siege mentality, making the target community more receptive to the MB’s claim of being its sole protector. By making rational audit of the network’s activities politically untenable, the network secured the space to pursue political entryism with the assistance of domestic collaborators.

The Useful Idiot Audit (Political Entryism)

In the lexicon of subversion, “Useful Idiots” are political actors and civil servants within the target country/organisation/entity who, often driven by idealism or political expediency, provide the legitimacy, access, and funding necessary for a subversive network’s success. Operating under banners such as “multiculturalism” or “interfaith dialogue,” these individuals and groups facilitate the operational pillar of entryism by mistaking a subversive political agenda for authentic minority representation.

Egyptson documents extensive collaboration between the IFiS network and established Swedish political parties. The following parties are identified as key enablers of the network’s political entryism:

  • The Social Democrats: Engaged in formal collaboration through their religious-political wing, Tro och Solidaritet.
  • The Green Party (Miljöpartiet): Facilitated the entryism of Mehmet Kaplan, who was successfully embedded as a Member of Parliament and ultimately reached a position in the Swedish government.
  • The Moderate Party: Enabled the entryism of Abdirizak Waberi, who served as a Member of Parliament while simultaneously holding a leadership position in the MB’s pan-European front organisation.
  • The Center Party (Centerpartiet): Engaged in collective collaboration and entryism efforts with the network.

The 2013 Omar Mustafa affair serves as a definitive case study. Mustafa, then-president of IFiS, was nominated to the executive board of the Social Democratic party. When his connections to the MB network were exposed, he received a vigorous public defense from figures like Peter Weiderud, the head of Tro och Solidaritet. Weiderud’s actions represent a textbook example of a useful idiot providing political cover, effectively legitimising a subversive operative at the highest levels of Swedish politics. This political collaboration was the essential bridge that allowed the network to transition from influencing civil society to embedding its own covert agents directly into the state apparatus.

The Deep State (The Sleepers)

In the advanced stages of ideological subversion, a “Secret Apparatus” of covert agents, or “Sleepers,” becomes operational. These agents are systematically embedded within a country’s key institutions over many years, maintaining a low profile until activated at critical moments to assume leadership roles, influence policy, and finalise the alteration of the political system from within.

The organisational concepts of the Muslim Brothers align with striking precision to this theoretical model. Egyptson provides direct analogues to the components of a covert network:

Bezmenov Concept: “Secret Apparatus”

Muslim Brotherhood Analogue (Evidence from Egyptson): The historical precedent of a secret military wing, al-nizam al-khas.

Bezmenov Concept: Covert Leadership

Muslim Brotherhood Analogue (Evidence from Egyptson): The documented structure of an “inner circle” that holds key positions across the network.

Bezmenov Concept: Deceptive Tactics

Muslim Brotherhood Analogue (Evidence from Egyptson); The use of taqiyya (doublespeak) and “Organised Hypocrisy” to conceal true allegiances and objectives.

This audit has identified several high-level operatives within the IFiS/FIOE network who have successfully executed the strategy of entryism to achieve significant political office in Sweden. Their careers represent a potential activation of sleepers.

Potential Sleeper Audit:

  • Mehmet Kaplan: Successfully embedded within the Green Party, achieving a position in the Swedish government before being forced to resign.
  • Abdirizak Waberi: Simultaneously served as a Member of Parliament for the Moderate Party while holding the position of vice-president of the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE), the MB’s pan-European umbrella organization.
  • Omar Mustafa: As president of IFiS, he was nominated to the executive board of the ruling Social Democratic party, an attempt at deep political infiltration that was only narrowly averted.

The political careers of these individuals are not isolated incidents of civic participation. They represent the successful culmination of the MB’s long-term strategy of entryism, placing covert agents in positions of power with the intent to fundamentally alter the Swedish political landscape from within, in alignment with the network’s ideological objectives.

Final Assessment and Projection

This final assessment synthesises the findings from the preceding four diagnostics to deliver a conclusive verdict on the status of the subversion process in Sweden and to project the Muslim Brothers’ most likely strategic trajectory.

Based on the cumulative evidence of comprehensive institutional capture (Demoralisation), the successful radicalisation of public discourse (Destabilisation), documented political entryism facilitated by major Swedish political parties, and the successful infiltration of high-level covert agents into the country’s parliament, this report concludes that Sweden is most likely within the Destabilisation phase of the Bezmenov cycle. The Demoralisation phase has been largely achieved within the network’s target enclaves, where a “cradle-to-grave” parallel social structure has effectively insulated its population. The country is now experiencing the acute social polarisation, political paralysis, and erosion of unified national identity that characterise the advanced stages of Destabilisation, bringing it closer to the precipice of Crisis.

The strategic projection for the Muslim Brothers’ next moves in Sweden must be viewed through the lens of its stated ultimate goal: tamkin. This term is defined as

“Islam’s victory and total power over other ideologies and religions.”

The pursuit of tamkin is not a metaphor for cultural influence; it is the blueprint for achieving political and social supremacy. The network’s future actions will therefore be directed at expanding its institutional control, escalating its destabilising information warfare to render political opposition untenable, and activating its embedded political agents to legislate in favor of its parallel society. The logical and intended end-state of the tamkin strategy is not multicultural integration, but the establishment of a parallel Islamic polity operating under its own legal and social norms, fundamentally challenging the sovereignty of the Swedish state.
